There are many associations that now provide protection and service to both the removal companies and the people using the removal service. There aren’t only these groups formed in the UK there are associations over seas that help both those that live there and obviously those that are moving over to their country. Those moving to another country tend to need more help than most as there is more possibility that something will go wrong in the process of their move because it’s over a greater distance and has more complications; such as customs.

Below are some of the different associations in place both here in the UK, those abroad and the services that they provide to the customers and the removal companies.

British Association of Removers (BAR)

BARThis association didn’t take its current form until 1972 as it formed one unified group from two already existing associations. These two associations were the National Association of Furniture Warehousemen and Removers and the British Association of Overseas Furniture Removers. They are a trade association so don’t carry the work out them selves but work with removal firms to provide the public with removal services that are reliable and trustworthy. They not only work with companies in the UK they also work with those abroad and provide services for those living in the UK but moving abroad. Their main goal is to ensure that the removal firm provides a good level of service to the customer and that the customer treats the removal firm correctly etc.

National Guild of Removers and Storers (NGRS)

Guild of removersThey work in a very similar way to the BAR in the way they don’t actually provide the service themselves but provide an over view of the quality of service. They will carry out checks on the companies that want to be a part of their association to ensure the staff have the right level of qualifications and experience to carry out the job to their best ability. The NGRS are highly focused on offering the best service to the customers as possible and provide the customers with quality questionnaires once the work is complete so they can rate the individual companies. With the results of these questionnaires it is possible for the NGRS to compile a rating for each company and this rating will then be on show for other possible customers to see.

Other associations based over seas provide similar services to those in the UK but tend to work in their own country rather than providing a service over a number of countries.

It is always advised you look for a removal company that is part of an association because you have the extra security of knowing that if something does go wrong the association will work to rectify the problem as soon as possible.
